A hybrid genre is when two film genres are combined together to create a combination of both films. It is different from sub genres because sub genres are smaller categories in one specific genre. A hybrid genre uses two different genres to have aspects from both in the film.
Types of hybrid genres in horror:
Comedy Horror e.g scary movie
Sci-fi Horror e.g Extraterrestrial
Action Horror e.g Deep Rising
Western Horror e.g The Burrowers
Romance Horror e.g Bram stoker's Dracula
After discussion, we have decided not to have a hybrid genre as our idea does not really fit into one. As we have decided to do a sub-genre, we felt that it was not necessary.
